Health Info  Nutrient Glossary  Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera, also known as “true aloe”, is a succulent plant native to North Africa. The leaves contain gel and latex, which have been used for medicinal purposes for thousands of years.

Aloe gel is a clear, jelly-liked substance obtained from the inner part of the leaf and has antibacterial properties. Therefore, it is used typically for promoting wound healing and other skin conditions such as sunburn, rashes and acne. Aloe latex is obtained from the cells just underneath the leaf skin and contains laxative substance, thus it can ease occasional constipation.
