Many of the benefits of omega-3 fatty acids have been well established. Traditionally, omega-3 fatty acids was processed from fish oil, however it is not suitable for the vegetarian groups who want to consume DHA or Omega 3. Algal oil is thereby an alternative source of fish oil to provide vegetarian omega-3 fatty acids.  Algae is the originating source of all marine omega-3s. In the marine food chain, microalgae is the primary food source for krill. Krill then provide the main source of food for many marine animals. Therefore, algae oil does not have the same risks of contamination or the bad taste associated with fish oil but with the same benefits of taking fish oil based Omega 3s.
